Singapore rewards a longer stay if you enjoy food, gardens and neighbourhood walks. Five days pair Marina Bay with hawker centres, older districts and a day on Sentosa, with indoor alternatives for rainy afternoons.

Day 1 — Marina Bay
Day 1 — Marina Bay
Merlion Park
Park, Park Nature
Start beside the Merlion for the familiar Marina Bay skyline, then walk along the waterfront towards the Esplanade. This is a short outdoor stop before the longer gardens visit later in the day.
Esplanade Theatres on the Bay
Theatre, Performance Culture
Walk past the spiky theatre roofs and along the bay promenade. The public spaces make a useful morning stop; a concert is an evening choice, not part of the daytime route.
ArtScience Museum
Museum
Choose an exhibition here if art and interactive displays appeal to you. Treat it as an alternative to a longer conservatory visit at Gardens by the Bay; doing both in depth makes this a packed day.
Gardens by the Bay
Garden, Botanical Garden
Make the gardens the main afternoon visit. Pick the conservatories you most want to see, then walk to the Supertree Grove; stay into the evening for the lit-up skyline and outdoor gardens.
SkyPark Observation Deck
Historic Site
The paid rooftop deck is an optional finish for a view over Marina Bay. The waterfront and Supertree paths already give good skyline views if you would rather spend the evening on dinner.
Day 2 — Civic District
Day 2 — Civic District
National Gallery Singapore
Museum, Art Museum
Spend the morning with Southeast Asian art in the former civic buildings. Choose a few galleries rather than the whole collection; lunch around the Civic District leaves the afternoon for riverfront walks.
Saint Andrew's Cathedral
Place of Worship, History Landmark
A short architectural stop beside the National Gallery. Walk around the grounds and the white Gothic exterior before heading south towards the Singapore River.
Asian Civilisations Museum
Library
Choose this instead of a long National Gallery visit if trade, religion and Asian material culture interest you more than paintings. Both are substantial museums; one main visit keeps the civic day relaxed.
Victoria Concert Hall
Music Venue
Pause outside the historic concert buildings and Raffles statue on the river. Continue west along the quays; an interior performance needs its own evening ticket.
Fort Canning Park
Park, Park Nature
Walk up through the hill park for an outdoor break after the museums. Finish on the western side for the descent towards Clarke Quay and dinner by the river.
Clarke Quay
Neighbourhood, Core Attraction
End the day beside the river, with dinner around Clarke Quay or nearby Robertson Quay. The painted warehouses and river paths make this an evening neighbourhood stop.
Day 3 — Chinatown
Day 3 — Chinatown
Buddha Tooth Relic Temple
Place of Worship, History Landmark
Begin Chinatown with the temple’s public halls, then walk the surrounding shophouse streets. Cover shoulders and knees for the temple; Maxwell is close enough for lunch afterwards.
Chinatown Heritage Centre
Museum, Museum Gallery
The recreated shophouse rooms tell the story of early migrants and cramped family life. Make this the main indoor visit in Chinatown, before browsing Pagoda Street and heading to Maxwell.
Maxwell Food Center
Food Court, Fast Food Casual
Use this hawker centre for lunch: chicken rice, noodles and fresh sugar-cane juice are straightforward choices. Queue at a stall that interests you and find a table; the point is the food, not a checklist of famous vendors.
Sri Mariamman Temple
Place of Worship, History Landmark
This Hindu temple adds another layer to Chinatown’s religious history. View the tower from South Bridge Road and enter the visitor areas when open; it is a brief stop on the neighbourhood walk.
Chinatown hawker food walk
Experience · Singapore
Try dishes across Hong Lim and Maxwell with a guide who explains Singapore’s hawker traditions. The three-hour walk includes nine tastings, so use it in place of a separate Maxwell lunch and part of the Chinatown stroll. Keep the temple visit and heritage centre as your other main stops.
Day 4 — Sentosa Island
Day 4 — Sentosa Island
Singapore Oceanarium
Aquarium
This site is now Singapore Oceanarium, which replaced S.E.A. Aquarium in July 2025. Make the marine-life galleries the main indoor Sentosa visit, followed by a beach stop; use the Oceanarium’s current ticketing site.
Fort Siloso
Historic Site
Explore Singapore’s coastal-defence history on Sentosa’s western end. Pair the fort and nearby skywalk with a beach afternoon; use the island shuttle to cover the distance from Resorts World.
Palawan Beach
Beach, Park Nature
End Sentosa with a beach break rather than another ticketed attraction. This works well after the Oceanarium; if you prefer the fort, use the shuttle between the west coast and Palawan.
Day 5 — Gardens, Little India & Kampong Glam
Day 5 — Gardens, Little India & Kampong Glam
Singapore Botanic Gardens
Garden, Botanical Garden
Start Day 5 early with a walk through the gardens before the heat builds. Focus on the central paths and Orchid Garden, then take the MRT towards Little India for lunch.
National Orchid Garden
Garden, Botanical Garden
The ticketed Orchid Garden is the main specialist collection within the Botanic Gardens, not a separate journey. Spend the latter part of the morning here before leaving for Little India.
Tekka Centre
Mall, Market Shopping
Take the MRT from the Botanic Gardens towards Little India and have lunch at Tekka’s hawker stalls. Follow lunch with a walk along Serangoon Road, rather than another long journey out to Mandai.
Sri Veeramakaliamman
Place of Worship, History Landmark
This temple on Serangoon Road makes a useful stop on the Little India walk. Continue through the surrounding shops, then travel to Kampong Glam for Sultan Mosque, Haji Lane and dinner.
Sultan Mosque
Place of Worship, History Landmark
Sultan Mosque anchors Kampong Glam’s Malay and Muslim heritage. Come after Little India on Day 5, then walk Bussorah Street and the adjoining lanes for dinner.
Haji Lane
Attraction, Core Attraction
Finish the day with independent shops, murals and cafés around Haji Lane and Arab Street. It is a small neighbourhood walk beside Sultan Mosque.
Optional extras
Optional extras
Night Safari
Zoo, Core Attraction
Optional evening at Mandai, often paired with a zoo day and an early dinner there. Book a timed entry and arrange the return journey; this is a substantial outing, not a quick extra after city sightseeing.
Singapore Zoo
Zoo
Optional Mandai day replacing the Botanic Gardens and neighbourhood route. The zoo is well north of the centre, so make it the main daytime outing; Night Safari can follow if you want a long wildlife day.
Universal Studios Singapore
Amusement Park
Optional full-day replacement for the beach-and-fort Sentosa route. Choose this for rides and film-themed attractions, and keep the Oceanarium for a different day.
