Zaragoza offers a different chapter of Spain’s history at almost every turn. Spend two days between the Aljafería’s courtyards, Roman remains and the great churches beside the Ebro.

Day 1 — Roman & medieval centre
Day 1 — Roman & medieval centre
Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar
Place of Worship, History Landmark
Begin in the great riverside square and step inside the basilica. After the visit, walk towards the Ebro for a view of its domes before continuing along the square to La Seo.
Catedral del Salvador
Place of Worship, History Landmark
La Seo brings together several chapters of Zaragoza’s religious and architectural history. Look at its Mudéjar exterior details as well as the interior; it is a distinct visit from the much larger Pilar basilica.
Museo del Foro de Caesaraugusta
Museum, History Museum
Go beneath the square to see remains of the Roman forum. The displays explain the city that existed here before the medieval streets, giving context for the theatre museum a short walk away.
Museo del Teatro de Caesaraugusta
Historic Site
The excavated Roman theatre makes the scale of ancient Caesaraugusta easier to picture. Pair it with the forum, or choose just one Roman museum if you want a longer visit to the Goya collection.
Goya Museum
Museum, Art Museum
The museum’s Goya paintings and print series make a strong art stop in the historic centre. The renovated museum reopened in October 2026; use this as the main gallery visit of the first day.
Day 2 — Aljafería & green spaces
Day 2 — Aljafería & green spaces
Palacio de la Aljaferia
Monument
Start the second day with the palace’s Islamic-era courtyards and later royal rooms. Reserve a visit slot and organise the rest of the morning around it; this is the trip’s main palace visit.
IAACC Pablo Serrano
Museum, Contemporary Art Museum
This contemporary art centre provides a different perspective after the Aljafería. Choose it for sculpture and modern work, or use CaixaForum as your afternoon exhibition stop instead.
CaixaForum Zaragoza
Museum, Museum Gallery
Come for an exhibition that interests you and for the building’s striking shape. It sits in the same western part of the centre as the other day-two visits, before the journey south to the park.
Parque Grande José Antonio Labordeta
Park, Park Nature
Finish with the avenues, fountains and gardens of Zaragoza’s large southern park. The tram makes this an easy change of scene from the centre without turning the afternoon into another museum circuit.

Patio de la Infanta
Museum, Museum Gallery
A compact alternative built around an ornate Renaissance courtyard. It suits an architecture-focused trip and can replace a second contemporary art visit on day two.
Centro de Historias
Museum, History Museum
Choose this cultural centre for its changing exhibitions in a former convent. It works as an eastern old-town detour if the programme appeals, rather than a compulsory stop on the main route.
