Rynek we Wrocławiu

Historic Site
The Old Town Hall is the architectural centrepiece of the square. Walk around its Gothic exterior, then visit the museum inside if you want more of the city’s history before the evening market.

University of Wrocław Museum

Museum
Make the university your main indoor visit this morning. The decorated ceremonial rooms and Mathematical Tower belong to the same complex, so the next two stops form one visit.

Wieża Matematyczna

Viewpoint, Core Attraction
The Mathematical Tower gives a view over the old town and river. Combine it with the university museum rather than treating it as a separate trip across the centre.

Aula Leopoldina

Attraction, Core Attraction
Look up at the painted ceiling and sculpted decoration in the university’s Baroque ceremonial hall. This is the highlight of the university interior, a short walk north of the market square.

Stare Jatki

Historic Site
Browse this short lane of galleries and craft shops, once the butchers’ quarter. It is a useful place for gifts beyond the Christmas stalls, with animal sculptures at street level.

Square, Core Attraction
Continue the Christmas-market circuit into Salt Square beside Rynek. The stalls here make a good final stop for a hot drink after the university and old-town walk.

Day 2 — Cathedral Island & river

Day 2 — Cathedral Island & river

Panorama of the Battle of Racławice

Art Gallery
Book a timed visit to the enormous circular battle painting. The viewing format makes it a contained indoor stop before the nearby National Museum and the river walk.

National Museum

Museum, Art Museum
Choose a few galleries of Silesian and Polish art for the afternoon. It is beside the river, making it a natural indoor stop before heading towards Cathedral Island around dusk.

Stop at the covered market for produce, flowers and a simple food break. Its concrete hall is worth a look on the way between the museums and the river islands.

Wrocław Cathedral

Historic Site
Step inside the twin-towered cathedral at the heart of the oldest district. Walk the surrounding lanes afterwards, when the gas lamps give Cathedral Island its evening character.

Quarter, Core Attraction
Wander the short cobbled lanes between the churches and river. This is a good dusk walk before returning to the centre for dinner and another look at the Christmas market.

Centennial Hall

Attraction, Core Attraction
Take a tram east for the great concrete exhibition hall and its surrounding grounds. The Visitor Centre explains the architecture; the Four Domes Pavilion nearby provides the longer art visit.

Four Domes Pavilion

Museum, Art Museum
Choose this for modern Polish art in a bright, spacious building beside Centennial Hall. It is the main indoor option today if you prefer galleries to the zoo.

ZOO Wroclaw

Zoo, Petting Zoo
Choose the zoo and Afrykarium as a longer family visit in this area. It can take most of the afternoon, so treat it as an alternative to a full visit to the Four Domes Pavilion.

Spire

Public Plaza
The Iglica stands on the open space in front of Centennial Hall. It is a brief architecture stop, easily combined with the hall and pavilion before the tram back to the centre.

Use the nearby paths for a short daylight walk after the museums. Keep this as a quiet extension of the Centennial Hall visit before heading back to the Christmas stalls.

Hydropolis

Museum, Science Museum
An optional indoor exhibition about water, set in a former reservoir. Swap it for one of the art museums if science and interactive displays appeal more.

Kolejkowo

Attraction, Core Attraction
A model-railway alternative for families or a wet afternoon. The miniature city scenes make a lighter visit than another art museum and work well as a swap for part of day three.
