Aarhus packs major art and history museums into a manageable coastal city. Three days give you the rainbow rooftop at ARoS, the streets of Den Gamle By and time to explore the modern harbour neighbourhoods.

Day 1 — City centre & art
ARoS Aarhus Art Museum
Museum, Art
$$
Start with the art collections and the rooftop Your rainbow panorama, where coloured glass changes the view across the city. This is the first day’s main museum visit.
Aarhus Cathedral
Place of Worship, History Landmark
Walk into the old centre for the cathedral’s brick exterior and long interior. The Latin Quarter begins nearby, making the next part of the day easy on foot.
Latin Quarter
Neighbourhood, Core Attraction
Explore the older streets around the cathedral for small shops, cafés and a lunch break. This neighbourhood walk balances the day’s art visits.
Kunsthal Aarhus
Art Gallery
Choose the changing contemporary-art exhibitions if you want a second art stop after ARoS. A shorter visit leaves more of the afternoon for the centre.
Musikhuset Aarhus
Music Venue
Finish around the concert hall and its landscaped surroundings near ARoS. An evening performance can extend the day without another trip across the city.
Day 2 — Old town & gardens
Day 2 — Old town & gardens
The Old Town, Aarhus
Museum, History Museum
Den Gamle By is a substantial open-air museum of Danish town life across different periods. Make it the centre of day two, rather than treating it as a quick photo stop.
Botanical Garden
Garden, Botanical Garden
Walk into the botanical gardens beside Den Gamle By after the museum. The paths and planted areas offer an outdoor break before the greenhouses.
Væksthusene
Museum, Museum Gallery
The Botanical Garden greenhouses bring tropical and other climate zones under glass. Visit them as part of the gardens outing, with an indoor option if the weather turns.
Universitetsparken
Park, Park Nature
End among the university park’s lakes, lawns and yellow-brick buildings. It is a quieter walk north of the old town, with the Steno Museum nearby as an optional swap.
Day 3 — Moesgaard & waterfront
Day 3 — Moesgaard & waterfront
Momu
Museum
Moesgaard Museum is the main archaeology visit, south of Aarhus. Travel out by bus for the morning, then return to the city for Dokk1 and the modern harbour district.
Dokk1
Building, Core Attraction
Return from Moesgaard to the harbourfront library and public building. Its terraces and waterside setting introduce the modern waterfront before continuing north.
Aarhus Ø
Quarter, Core Attraction
Follow the harbour into Aarhus East for contemporary apartment blocks, canals and sea views. This part of the afternoon is an architecture walk through a lived-in neighbourhood.
House iceberg
Attraction, Core Attraction
The Iceberg buildings are the best-known architectural stop in Aarhus Ø. View the angular white façades from the public waterfront paths.

Tivoli Friheden
Amusement Park
Swap in the amusement park for rides and a different pace, especially with children. It is a substantial alternative to a museum afternoon south of the centre.
Den Uendelige Bro
Attraction, Core Attraction
The Infinite Bridge is a seasonal circular walkway at the beach south of Aarhus. Choose it for a coastal detour during the warmer months; the structure is removed for winter.
Moesgård Strand
Beach
Moesgaard Beach works as an extension to the museum outing if you would rather stay on the coast than return for the harbour walk. The beach and museum are separate stops.
Steno Museet
Museum, Science Museum
The Steno Museum covers science and medicine beside the university park. Swap it for part of the gardens afternoon if you prefer another indoor collection.
