Attraction, Core Attraction
Walk southeast to the exposed arena and traces of the Roman amphitheatre. The surviving remains show the scale of the garrison town; the nearby Roman Gardens continue the story on the second day.

Sick To Death

Museum, Museum Gallery
Finish the first day at St Michael’s Church on Bridge Street for this museum of medicine, disease and past treatments. Its displays are deliberately gruesome, making it a better choice for interested adults and older children.
